The NSW Government Battery Rebate Launched in November 2024 as part of the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS), aiming to alleviate pressure on the electricity grid during peak usage times is coming to an end on the 30th June 2025. This rebate cannot be claimed in conjunction with the Federal Government Cheaper Home Battery Rebate program which will become available from 1st July 2025 offering households and small business great incentive to install a storage system.
The NSW State Government will however continue to offer incentive for connecting your battery to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP).

Federal Government’s Cheaper Homes Battery Program
The introduction of the Federal Government’s Cheaper Homes Battery Program will become available on battery storage system’s from 1st July 2025. The final details are pending release on this scheme but here is what we know so far.

What is Back to Grid Solar?
Back to Grid Solar, also known as grid-tied or on-grid solar, is a system that connects your solar power setup directly to the local electricity grid. This allows you to use solar energy generated by your panels during the day and draw from the grid when solar production is low, such as at night or during cloudy weather. Any excess energy your system produces is fed back into the grid, often earning you credits or payments from your utility provider.
